A Guide to the Perfect Pancake

A Guide to the Perfect Pancake

Here’s what you’ll need

-10 Minutes Prep Time
-4 Hungry People
- 1 Decent Sized Mixing Bowl
-70-80g of Plain Flour
-Pinch of Salt
-Pinch of Sugar
120ml of Fresh Milk
-1 Egg
-Your Chosen Toppings

All about the Batter

Start off with a decent sized mixing bowl, around 70-80g of plain flour and a pinch of sugar and salt. Follow this up with 120ml of fresh milk, 1 egg and begin to gently whisk to produce a mixture.  Well... now that’s over, your all set!

A Perfect Pan for a Perfect Pancake

A large base non-stick frying pan is what you will need to make your perfect pancake. Apply a thin layer of melted butter to the pan and then set to a medium heat. Excited yet?! It’s now time to start with your batter. Simply pour a small amount into the pan and begin to tilt in a circular motion so that the batter covers the pan entirely. You’ll notice very small bubbles in the mixture once the pancake is almost done!

Do I Flip?

Now it’s time to make the biggest decision of all! Do I flip the pancake and embarrass myself in front of the family when it ends up either on the ceiling or on the floor or do I allow those last few seconds for it to lightly crisp in the pan ready to serve? Of course, that decision is down to you but for the inexperienced “flipper” may I suggest using a spatula to simply flip whilst in the pan. If it doesn’t work out the first time, Don’t Worry!! Practice will make perfect.

Our Suggestions

By now you’ll be on the edge of your seat awaiting your piping hot, delicious pancakes, though if you’re having trouble on deciding what to serve yours with, never fear. We’re here with our suggestions. Typically, you will find pancakes to be served with the traditional sugar and lemon juice but for those wishing to experiment why try not sliced fruit and ice cream? Bacon and egg? Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Banana? Tomato and Mushroom?  There are so many variations, it is simply down to your imagination!
